BEST THING I EVER DID: Amie Howarth

As a young carer, I took part in a visit to Parliament to talk to ministers about young carers. It was organised by The Children's Society's Young Carers Initiative. I first went two years ago with the group, to talk to ministers about the issues we face at home and in school, and last week to ask more questions. We want them to understand the problems we face, and to help.

I set up a lunchtime group at school so young carers could talk to each other about what it's like. I was asked to do a presentation to teachers to explain that it can be difficult to get homework in on time when you have to look after someone at home.
