All those who go through an Ofsted inspection know it can be an exhausting and nerve-wracking experience. So when Wendy Whitehead, manager at Linden Family Unit, admits she cried when told that the children's home had achieved an "outstanding" rating, most people will empathise with her.
"I really didn't believe we would get outstanding and when we did it had drained me to a point emotionally where, when the inspector was feeding back, it touched me," she says. "I thought, this isn't just an accolade for me, this is an accolade for the children and the staff team because we've got the drive and the ambition to have good outcomes."
