Battle of the badge: Row over disabled parking entitlement

Two mothers are fighting to get regulations on blue-badge eligibility changed so that disabled children under two-years-old can use the badge. Helen Grindrod and Kelli-Ann Rushton started the campaign after finding their daughters Mia and Jessica (pictured) were not entitled to the badge. Both suffer from hip dysplasia and have casts fitted holding their legs at right angles, which means their mums need the space of disabled bays to get them in and out of cars.

An early day motion on the issue, tabled by Conservative MP MariaMiller, has cross-party support from 60 MPs.www.ipetitions.com/petition/blue_badge.
