Claire's exhausted after organising a joint 75th and fifth birthday party.

Children's birthday parties. Don'tcha just love 'em? Not being a mum,they belong to a mystery zone into which I've only ever entered byinvitation, usually by some friend who thinks that I can entertain theiroffspring, what with me working with children.

I tend to avoid them, except once when visiting friends in Australia,where the emphasis seemed to lie with the adults getting sozzled andleaping in the ball pool. Fair dinkum.

However, my mum's recent 75th birthday coincided roughly with my niece'sfifth, so I decided to lay on a joint party. Well, for them and mysister's other six offspring, who range from three weeks to 18years.
