England's children's commissioner, Professor Al Aynsley-Green, sounds like a good bloke. I am heartened by the fact that he got the job due to his experience and genuine understanding of the needs of children and young people.
He understands the importance of participation and inclusion, and knows that children and young people should not be used as decoration fodder when it comes to using their views to influence legislation, policy and practice. I am particularly pleased to hear he is kicking off about the fact that the Government is failing on children's rights.
The promotion of children's rights is fundamental to making any real change within the five outcomes for children and young people in England.
