Back Page: Rod Morgan - My week - The pleasures of the BlackCountry and ballet

Over a late breakfast, I discover I have a telephone message from the Today programme that was left before 7am. They wanted to know if I could do a live interview about youth gangs before 8am. Ah well.

I settle down in my study to prepare for my week. I have several interviews with young people who took part in a West Midlands arts project and which in late autumn 2006 was the subject of a Channel 4 series, Ballet Changed My Life: BalletHoo!

I'm collating - I hesitate to say writing, because I want it largely to comprise the young people's voices - a book about the project. I manage to complete an analysis of what a sample of them have said in writing about their participation.
