Back Page: My week - The power of dance knows no bounds

Monday: Up early to finish and transmit an article for a national newspaper on the appointment of my successor as chair of the Youth Justice Board and what I think should be done to correct the flawed youth justice provisions in the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill.

Then off to a meeting of the board of a local drugs and alcohol advisory service of which I am a trustee. We're thinking about how we can supplement the core services we provide.

Tuesday: Travel with Martin Ennis of Cardiff University, of whose policing research centre I am a member, to the Bridgend HQ of South Wales Police to discuss the evaluation of a scheme for policing young people in the Swansea area.

Wednesday: My article appears. Work at home on the final edited version of my book on the West Midlands Ballet Hoo! dance project, which last week won the National Dance Awards Critics' Circle for best project benefiting disadvantaged young people - a description the young people who took part really resented.
