When I first heard that Young People Now was planning to replace the caricatures of its columnists and contributors with photographs I struggled to find a smile.

After three-and-a-bit years I've become quite attached to my cartoon image. It may be true that the camera never lies. But my cartoon certainly does. And that's how I like it. Cartoon me never gets any older, never looks tired and never, ever stops smiling.

But all good things must come to an end. And I guess it was inevitable that at some point we would all have to be pixelated. After all, who wants to be accused of being an analogue columnist in a digital age?
