What am I talking about? It's the curriculum of course.

Over the years, many local authority youth services have certainly been very inventive when it comes to developing models to try to communicate clearly the what, where and why of their work.

But why so much effort gets put into creating visual representations of the curriculum isn't always easy to understand. Is it all about trying to explain an abstract concept to a diverse range of staff and stakeholders?

Or is it an attempt to distract attention from the flimsy foundations?
