Outcomes seem to be a bit like the number nine bus. You wait around for ages for one to turn up, and then five come along at once.

And as for aims, well thanks to the Every Child Matters Outcomes Framework there is no shortage of these either. We've now got 25 of those, covering everything from illegal drugs to being ready for employment.

I say they cover just about everything, because this week I was speaking with a 13-year-old girl who made a very good case for adding a 26th aim to the list. Her suggestion? Turning off the television and doing something less boring instead.
