My uncle works for a very big company. A few weeks ago, he told me how he does his best to avoid answering the telephone at work "because it's always someone wanting something doing". He is probably those corporate management gurus' worst nightmare. I mean, even I think it's not very can-do to avoid picking up the phone.
But for some people, task avoidance is a bit of an art. I'm sure this isn't because of laziness. It's more likely because if you show any aptitude or even a vague interest in something at work, you'll be designated an "expert" by your colleagues in no time at all.
