My office is full of hoodies. But don't panic. They're not binge drinking or trying to nick my laser printer. They're all safely packed up in a big cardboard box waiting to be distributed to members of our youth council.
Hoodies definitely have an image problem. Ever since managers at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent announced they were banning hooded tops as part of a crackdown on antisocial behaviour they've become firmly associated with intimidation, low-level crime and bad behaviour in public places.
And as the number of people visiting Bluewater increased by 23 per cent the weekend after they made their much-publicised announcement, other shops across the country have been quick to jump on the bandwagon.
