The Guardian's Polly Curtis seems less certain where her sympathies - and those of parents - lie. "Parents are very loyal to their children's teachers - if they are good. So this could still bite back at the government," she writes. Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph suggests parents should turn teachers for the day rather than simply plonking their offspring in front of the telly, offering helpful suggestions, guaranteed to delight frazzled mums and dads. "Go to the seaside and walk along the floor picking up rubbish and observing pollution," is one. Alternatively "identify the 10 most common clouds" or "try bluebell hunting".
