She pondered who'd make a better parent - Nigella or Derek Conway, the Conservative MP who has got into a spot of bother for lavishing public money on his sons. "You'd choose Derek wouldn't you?" she concluded. "Nigella would send you off to sweep chimneys and have you begging 'Please, mum, can I have some more?' when she presented you with a mug of her home-made porridge."
