Nigella Lawson has sent people into a spin and for once it's nothing to do with seductive baking. Instead she's making headlines for saying she's not going to a leave her fortune to her offspring because "it ruins people not having to earn money".

"I'm sure there are many children out there who wish that their parents could choose to leave them penniless in order to teach them a lesson about wealth, rather than do so simply because they've got no money," pointed out The Daily Telegraph's Bryony Gordon. She pondered who'd make a better parent - Nigella or Derek Conway, the Conservative MP who has got into a spot of bother for lavishing public money on his sons. "You'd choose Derek wouldn't you?" she concluded. "Nigella would send you off to sweep chimneys and have you begging 'Please, mum, can I have some more?' when she presented you with a mug of her home-made porridge."
