One in two parents never read their children a bedtime story, The Daily Telegraph tells its readers. Its evidence is a survey by Raisingkids.

The paper says families in the south of England are least likely toshare bedtime stories. But a survey last autumn by Booktrust found thatone in 10 parents never read to their children. Parents in Yorkshirewere most likely never to read to their children.

You couldn't make it up or you might as well. Your guess is as good asanyone else's.

- Is having a safe car seat a children's rights issue? Do children havea right to the same level of protection in cars as adults? Or is it ananny state issue?

As it turns out, it has become a postcode lottery issue. BBC News Onlinereports that police in Cleveland have issued 49 penalties to drivers nothaving a booster seat and proper restraint for under-13s who are shorterthan 1.35m.
