Bullying hurts and you don't have to endure it. Those wise words are from the anti-bullying web site run by the Department for Education and Skills.

It explains that you don't have to suffer in silence and its web site ispacked with "practical techniques and the valuable experiences of thosewho have been bullied, or have bullied".

If you wonder why those last few words are there, wonder no longer. TheGuardian last week reported on bullying of staff within governmentdepartments.

It said the DfES is recorded as "the worst offender on bullying andharassment".

If we're talking bullying, the department has what we used to callstreet cred.

- The Conservatives are venting their horror at one of their opponents'leafleting strategies for the upcoming local elections

The Lib Dem's local election guide advises candidates to go "into themiddle of a council estate with your leaflets". Next step is to "shoutat the local kids 'any of you lot want to help deliver all theseleaflets?'."
