Babies take to stage in Peterborough

Early Years
Hot on the heels of baby massage and yoga comes the latest initiative for children aged under 18 months - baby theatre.

Toddlers between 12 and 18 months old will be creating their own theatre productions at Peterborough in March.

Performers from Oogly Boogly, a touring theatre company, will watch children play in a large inflatable tent and copy their movements and sounds in a follow-the-leader style production. Each performance is unique as it will rely on how babies respond to each other and parents or carers.

Jenny Spratt, head of early years and childcare at Peterborough City Council, said: "It's amazing how quickly toddlers become aware of the game. They realise the control they have over adults and engage with them to follow their lead."
