The Spectrum Club in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, offered a lifeline.
The youth club was set up specifically for children and young people with Asperger's syndrome, and allows them to take part in a huge range of "common interest assisted activities". More importantly, says Kinch, their "behaviour is unchallenged".
"When the club first started I desperately wanted Tim to go. I wanted to get him out of the house and mixing with children his own age," she explains. "He loves shopping and transactions and is very good with money. So the club manager suggested we could set up a tuck shop and he could run that."
