Young people from the Defendin da Hood project in the London Borough of Waltham Forest received the equipment from the council's Noise Team, which confiscated it from a rave last July. They will use it to train in music broadcasting skills.
The group, which targets over-13s, already runs an online radio station, StreetLife FM (www.streetlifefm.com), and it is bidding for a temporary licence that will allow it to broadcast locally this summer.
The project, aimed at tackling gang- and gun-related crime, is also creating a grime CD with the aim of decreasing tension between young people from different estates in the borough.
