Arts funding

1 min read Participation
During the recession there have been lots of cuts made in the arts. These cuts reduce the amount of events that engage and excite the interests of young people across England.

If I were in charge of the arts I would implement two-thirds to half-price-off tickets for students in further and higher education and introduce a weekly pass that would allow students and the public to visit the majority of galleries and events for a fixed fee each week.

I'd introduce more open spaces where work can be displayed by anyone, but mainly students, and I would aim to focus more funding towards galleries and theatre so that it would be cheaper for them to have school tours and bring in more cultural exhibitions and shows.

The arts are important as they allow us to express ourselves openly, revealing a different side that not only opens our minds but also allows us to view different cultures directly, breaking down barriers between humans.
