The minister, who was in the West Midlands to hear the local media's views on the future of the BBC, spoke with Catherine O'Shea, director of First Light (centre, left), Amar Rashid (far right) and Mohammed Abuzer, the young film-makers behind the football drama The Final. The two young men from Lozells Recreation Group in Birmingham talked to Jowell about their experiences on the UK Film Council-funded project and watched an excerpt of The Final, which was nominated in the best screenplay category at the recent First Light Film Awards in London's West End.
