The cards, which contain personal safety tips, were designed by young people supported by youth charity Fairbridge.

Software giant Microsoft funded the initiative as part of its 100,000 Unlimited Potential programme that promotes digital learning at Fairbridge projects in Teesside and Tyne and Wear.

The messages included "don't leave your presents by a window" and "keep your bags zipped".

The group's creative talents were displayed on a billboard poster at Newcastle's Monument Metro station urging people to stay safe over Christmas.
