Antisocial Behaviour: Prisoners called upon to deter young fromantisocial acts

The project is run by Arun District Council with West Sussex Youth Service and will involve 21 young people from the Bognor Regis area spending one afternoon a week learning about the consequences of their actions.

As part of the programme prisoners at HMP Coldingley, Surrey, will speak to the young people about life in prison and how they ended up in there.

Laura Fullard, youth diversionary officer at Arun District Council, said the programme is aimed at making young people understand why they should avoid antisocial behaviour. "The aim is that it's educational, not scary," she said. "We want young people to get an idea of what life is like in prison and that although the things they're doing may seem small now, a lot of people in prison may have started off like that."
