Chief constable Paul Scott-Lee told the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs last week that bridging the generation divide would do more to ease community conflict than providing more youth facilities.
He said research by his force showed young people congregating on streets was people's biggest crime-related concern. "We've got into the habit of describing most activities by young people as antisocial," said Scott-Lee. "Antisocial behaviour is now a meaningless phrase and we have to be more discerning in how we do our business."
