Anti-social behaviour: Scottish councils get 2m for scheme

Three Scottish councils will share a total of 2m to help families break the cycle of anti-social behaviour using an acclaimed multi-agency approach.

South Lanarkshire, Falkirk and Perth and Kinross councils will launchintensive support programmes based on NCH's Dundee Families Project thissummer. The councils will develop a team of community-based staff thatwill work with people in their own homes and prevent and addresshomelessness.

NCH Scotland will advise the councils on the two-year project, whichwill deal with between six and 12 families a year. Paul Carberry,assistant director at NCH Scotland, said: "This strikes the rightbalance between progressive support while recognising sanctions have aplace."

He anticipated the approach would be rolled out across Scotlandfollowing its evaluation.
