The Government is to introduce annual reviews of anti-social behaviour orders given to under 18s, it announced last month.

The change has been welcomed by organisations concerned about the use oforders against children and young people. Pauline Batstone, chair of theAssociation of Youth Offending Team Managers, said the move recognisedthat children do change. "A year can be a very long time for ateenager," she said.

The change will allow magistrates to adjust anti-social behaviour ordersimposed against children depending on how they have behaved.

The Home Office is still considering how best to introduce the change. Aspokesman for the department said it could be introduced throughofficial guidance or through a change to the law.
