The merger of Rainer and Crime Concern looks set to create a new charity with more spending clout than the National Children's Bureau, YMCA England or the Children's Society.
The two charities, scheduled to merge on 1 July, will have a combined total income of £42m for the current year - only slightly less than NCH's youth activities income.
The new organisation will operate under the name Rainer Crime Concern until later this year, when it will decide on a permanent brand. Its combined 1,200 staff and 800 volunteers will work with 34,000 under-supported young people a year in more than 100 areas across England and Wales.
