The Wales Youth Agency is failing in its task of supporting youth services. That was the conclusion of a set of internal Welsh Assembly Government documents recently released under the Freedom of Information Act. The verdict led to the withdrawal of the agency's funding.
The agency's future has been the topic of much debate over the past year.
The Welsh Assembly Government has insisted that the decision to stop funding the agency's work is part of its so-called "bonfire of the quangos", a push by First Minister Rhodri Morgan to make public bodies more accountable by absorbing them into the government.
