6 mins read
Very few would say the new measures to help families with disabled children unveiled last week were a disappointment, but many hope that this is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of funding. Cathy Wallace finds out what happens next.

For some, it's the 280m phased in over the next three years tofund short breaks for disabled children and their families, so many ofwhom describe themselves as at or close to breaking point.

For others it's the 35m pilot project to provide the right kindof childcare to disabled children and promote training in the workforceto deal with the challenges these children can pose.

Whether it is the 5m to help parents of disabled children getinvolved and help shape local services, or a new national indicator and"core offer" to help disabled children and their parents understand whatsupport they are entitled to, few would say the Aiming High for DisabledChildren: Better Support for Families report is a disappointment.
