Alcohol: Lib Dems unsure of drinking age policy

Liberal Democrat culture spokesman Don Foster said the party wanted to reduce the age limit. "I am clear about the policy, but I see no reason to accept that it would lead to an increase in binge drinking," he said, after Labour MP Kevin Brennan asked if this was the party's policy.

But youth spokesman Matthew Green later denied it was Liberal Democrat policy in an email to shadow youth minister Charles Hendry.

A Liberal Democrat spokeswoman said the policy might be adopted in the future.
