There endeth the lesson for 13 wannabe football coaches who have just played an active part in a three-hour child protection workshop organised by the Bexley & District Junior Football League.
The tutor for the evening, Alan Seamons, had opened the workshop, which is mandatory for anyone wanting to gain a Football Association (FA) coaching badge, by highlighting just how popular football is among children. Conservative estimates put the number of under-18s playing football at around four million, while at least 750,000 adults are involved in junior football.
