A Community Nursing Strategy for Wales

Health
The Welsh Assembly Government is seeking views on recommendations made on its community nursing strategy, by a ministerial task group chaired by the Royal College of Nursing.

The proposals include the development of children's community nursing by increasing the number of posts for qualified community children's nurses. Provision of professional networks that will underpin children's community nurses will also be central to the development of the strategy.

The recommendations will support community children's nurses in caring for children with complex needs, and assist their aim to reduce hospital admissions. The group also suggests that further papers will be published on the role of health visitors and the development of maternity support workers.
