A bright idea: Prizes for fostering posters handed out

Seven-year-old Dawod Dera and his sister Sara, six, show off the prize-winning posters they made to encourage more people to foster.

The poster competition was open to children in schools throughout theLondon Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Dawod won the first prize forhis poster and received a 100 Argos voucher to buy a bicycle. Hissister's poster was a runner-up and she got a 25 book token. Thecompetition was held to mark Foster Care Fortnight. Carole Bell, theborough's assistant director of children's services, said: "Dawod'sdesign perfectly captures the theme of this year's Foster CareFortnight, which is fostering brighter futures."
