According to research by Mother & Baby magazine, 77 per cent of mothers think there is a lack of baby changing rooms in public places, while over half of those surveyed had resorted to changing their baby in a public place such as a shopping centre floor.
While the government has invested heavily in supporting children in their early years, the true potential of many of these initiatives will take years to take effect. In the meantime, it is essential that we champion the need to support new parents and families with young children at every available opportunity and prioritise their needs when shaping services in the community.
