CASE STUDY 1
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has been awarded £18m over three years from the Department for Children, Schools and Families to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries among under-fives. Its Safe at Home project will provide disadvantaged families with advice and free home safety equipment, such as safety gates and window restrictors.
The scheme will be running in the 141 areas across the UK that have above-average admissions of children to hospital. The equipment provided will be tailored to the individual needs of families. Workshops are also being run for childcare workers to increase their knowledge about the project.
