Clear up confusion over illegal downloading.

With children having access to the internet at increasingly younger ages, they are now faced with ethical decisions about how to benefit from new technology without - often unknowingly - venturing into illegal territory.

The illegal downloading of media is, for many, a confusing area. The practice is rife among young people. It is estimated that 61 per cent of MP3 players belonging to 14- to 17-year-olds contain illegally copied songs. There is obviously a need to clarify young people's understanding of what is legal and to reinforce the reality that online offences are just as serious as crimes committed in other environments.
