
Schools could help young people achieve better outcomes through partnerships with community-based youth organisations, a report has found. Commissioned by London Youth and carried out by think-tank LKMco, the report found there are certain things that teachers value, but can’t always deliver within the constraints of the curriculum and the school day such as community activities and learning to explore and cope with transitions.
?Scotland’s political leaders are to be quizzed by young people in an election hustings organised by the National Union of Students Scotland and the National Society of Apprentices Scotland. The Scotsman reports the young people will be able to put their questions across to leaders including SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon and Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale.?
Youth charity Central YMCA has warned of the increasing harm caused by legal and illegal highs. The warning comes after a survey of more than 1,600 16- to 25-year-olds around the biggest challenges they felt they faced ranked the abuse of legal and illegal highs in the top five.?
Supporters, volunteers and cadets at the Sea Cadets have been invited to abseil 130ft from the clock tower of St Lawrence Jewry Church in London. Due to take place on 20 May, those who wish to sign up have to pledge to raise £500 for charity, which will go towards replacing the Sea Cadets' two offshore yachts.?
An organisation that delivers a range of youth services is to gain more than £60,000 from a share of more than £10m from the Scottish Government. The Dumbarton and Vale of Leven Reporter reports Tullochan, West Dunbartonshire, is among nearly 190 projects across Scotland to receive funding from the £10.8m People and Communities Fund.?
