Young people take over The Big Issue

2 mins read Youth Work
A special edition of street paper The Big Issue has been taken over by young people – showcasing the issues closest to their hearts.
The youth-led edition of The Big Issue is a joint initiative with OnSide Youth Zones

Nine young people aged 13 to 18 chose, researched and covered subjects ranging from the transformative power of youth work, and the impact of the recent Supreme Court ruling on trans rights.

The publication partnered with youth charity OnSide for the youth-led issue, which is out today.

It features a 15-year-old’s interview with education minister Catherine McKinnell about special educational needs provision in schools and a 14-year-old’s chat with financial influencer Simon Squibb how he can become a millionaire.

Chloe Jones, 18, also spoke to award-winning musician James Arthur, who has been open about experiencing mental health difficulties, about how his music helped her navigate her own challenges.
