Speaking at the National Day Nurseries Association's (NDNA) annualconference in Leeds, Jane Haywood, chief executive of the Children'sWorkforce Development Council, said the aim was for EYPS to be regardedas equal to qualified teacher status.

"I worked as an assessor at theUniversity of Sunderland and, of the candidates that did the EYPS, threeof them have used it to go on to other things. Both of the nurserynurses we employ in our day nursery are also looking to use it to go onto teacher training," she said.
