The National Licensed Trade Association (NLTA) brings together organisations including Alcohol Concern, the ambulance service, NHS, police and the drinks industry.
The NLTA is launching a training scheme for those who work in the licensed trades to recognise and handle alcohol excess before it gets out of hand.
Newlove has previously set up Newlove FM, a Warrington-based community radio station, and campaigned for more youth opportunities and training with Through Unity, a coalition of bereaved families.
Don Shenker, chief executive of Alcohol Concern, said: "If we are to reduce the harms excessive drinking cause, we must radically alter the way alcohol is being sold – if given a chance, this new initiative will undoubtedly save lives."
