Education Secretary Gillian Keegan has announced that from autumn UCAS (the University and Colleges Admissions Services) will begin to expand its services to offer more personalised options for young people, including apprenticeships.
This means a young person will be able to view apprenticeship routes into a particular career side-by-side with relevant undergraduate degrees, so they can make an informed decision from all available options.
By 2024, young people will be able to search and apply for apprenticeships through UCAS, alongside an undergraduate application, aiming to put vocational education on equal footing with traditional academic routes.
The DfE added that by broadening UCAS, thousands of young people will benefit from a wider range of high-quality pathways, and employers will benefit from better access to potential employees.
