
The member for Bately and Spen faced a barrage of abuse on Twitter last week after her off-the-shoulder black outfit slipped revealing bare skin as she stood to raise a point of order.
An image of her circulated quickly on the social media site with the hashtag #shouldergate with many people criticising the shadow culture secretary for dressing inappropriately in the House of Commons.
However, Brabin, who had not expected to be called to the despatch box that day, said the dress had slipped down after she leant forward due to a broken ankle.
In a tweet she responded to a stream of “vitriolic” comments posted online calling into question her moral behaviour and standards.
