Third of girls rely on alcohol for a night out

One in three girls say they need a couple of drinks for courage before a night out while 10 per cent believe a good night out is one where you can't remember anything the next day, a survey has revealed.

The Girlguiding UK Girls’ Attitudes Survey looked at the views and opinions of today’s girls and young women.

The findings show that girls and young women in the UK are generally positive and happy with their lives, but found there are significant numbers who are worried about their future and are under pressure for a variety of reasons, including money, career choices, the portrayal of women and government cuts.

The survey of 1,200 girls found that 69 per cent are stressed about money compared to 48 per cent in the 2010 survey. One in three (35 per cent) worry about their parents’ financial situation.
