The research was conducted by the School for Policy Studies in partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and the Duchenne Family Support Group, and was based on interviews with 40 young DMD sufferers and their families.
A third of young men who took part in the study were found to be at home during the day, and not engaged in any kind of education, training or work. The study also found that most felt they had struggled to find employment and had very limited social opportunities.
