Social work pilots announced

1 min read Social Care
The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) has announced the first nine areas to take part in an 11.7m social work pilot to test new ways of working.

Initiatives being tested through the CWDC’s Remodelling Social Work Project aim to increase the time social workers spend directly with children and families.

The nine successful projects will receive funding for the next three years and have a strong focus on improving outcomes for vulnerable groups. Each pilot will gain £200,000 a year as well as £50,000 one off payment.

They include a Bath and North East Somerset Council scheme to place social workers in extended schools and children’s centres and an early intervention initiative in Rochdale linking up social workers with residential care homes.

Shropshire’s successful bid includes specialist training for social workers in reducing teenage homelessness and family breakdowns.
