Science event engages pupils

1 min read Education
A pilot interactive project aiming to promote science in schools is to be repeated next year after more than four out of five young people thought it improved their understanding

I'm a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here was developed by communications company Gallomanor, which also runs an annual local democracy event for young people. More than 850 people took part in the project, which was funded by The Wellcome Trust. Pupils were able to talk to scientists online and vote for the one they wanted to receive a prize of £500.

The project evaluation found that nearly a third (31 per cent) of pupils visited the project website at home in their own time. Three out of five said they felt more confident debating science issues. Every teacher surveyed said they would use the project again.
