The organisation which embeds youth workers in A&E departments in London and Birmingham has said it is looking into a proposed merger with non-profit organisation Catch22, after “experiencing major financial challenges in recent times, due to the current external funding landscape”.

Redthread’s work at two NHS trusts in Nottingham was decommissioned in February after funding ended for the programmes.

The proposed merger with Catch22, which delivers work focused on resilience among vulnerable young people with a focus on youth justice and children’s social care, is designed to “ensure Redthread’s vital services can both stabilise and grow, with their commitment to the children and young people they serve remaining the primary focus”.
