Leadership team to leave Redthread amid Catch22 merger

Charity Redthread has announced the departure of its senior leadership team, including chief executive Lucie Russell, as it enters into a merger with social business Catch22.

The charities confirmed the merger last month citing Redthread’s “major financial challenges” as a driving factor.

Redthread has today (11 September) announced that Russell will leave her role on Friday (13 September). She will join criminal justice charity User Voice.

Russell joined Redthread in November 2023, for an initial period of 18 months, when previous chief executive Geethika Jayatilaka left the role after less than six months.

Redthread’s third chief executive in a little over a year – Jayatilaka replaced previous interim Tracey Burley last summer following the departure of founding boss John Poyton in mid-2022. On taking over the role Russell told CYP Now that “overseeing a period of stability” at the charity would be her key aim.
