Play England announces 15 job losses amid huge government funding cuts

1 min read Early Years
Play England has announced 15 jobs are to be axed as the organisation seeks to cope with a 900,000 cut in its government funding for the year.

The organisation is expecting to see its government funding for the current financial year (2010-11) cut from £1.4m to just £500,000.

To deal with this reduction in funding, Play England is looking to radically restructure its organisation as it looks to renegotiate its contract with the government.

Of its 61 strong team, 15.7 full-time roles will be axed and a further 31 will become new roles, which existing staff members will be able to apply for. Just 15 of the existing posts will remain unchanged.

Director Adrian Voce says the current focus on the nine English regions will be scrapped as part of the restructure.
