CYP Now has been informed that about 400 Year 11 and sixth form students, some in uniform, tried to enter the building earlier today with some managing to distribute leaflets from the roof about a forthcoming demonstration in Witney, Prime Minister David Cameron’s constituency.
Police were apparently caught out after positioning themselves outside Oxford’s central library, following a rumour that students planned to occupy the building. After meeting in Cornmarket Street, however, some of the students entered County Hall.
"They’re using blitzkrieg tactics," said David Ricketts, a local youth worker who witnessed the demonstration. "Hopefully, this will be a peaceful protest and no one will get injured, but it gives me heart to see young people organising themselves like this."
